Sias University's Academic Affairs & Scientific Research Department, and Information Construction & Management Department organized an online teaching training meeting for all teachers of the university on the 22nd of August. The meeting was held to ensure the implementation of the arrangements and directives of the Ministry of Education and the Henan Department of Education for the normalized opening of the 2021 autumn semester and the prevention and control of the Covid-19 pandemic. The theme of the meeting was "Information Enabled Online Teaching and Creating a Teaching Ecology with High Standards".
At the meeting, there were presentations on online teaching by Li Xia, a consultant at the Information Construction & Management Department, Zhao Yuxia, the Director of Teaching Design at Superstar Group, Wang Yinping, Associate Professor at the School of Foreign Languages, Liu Ying, Associate Professor at the School of Electronics & Information Engineering, and Ma Bin, Associate Professor at the School of Music & Opera. The presentations included online teaching methods and academic course creation advice based on experience.
Li Xia introduced the current objectives and challenges for teaching from 3 aspects: intelligent teaching support systems, the integration of teaching environment and resources, and the development prospects of intelligent teaching. She spoke about the three-year action plan for intelligent teaching in undergraduate colleges and universities in the province of Henan for teachers. She said that improving the teaching management, integrating teaching resources, and improving the teaching systems were effective measures to raise the level of teachers' online and offline integrated teaching. She also spoke about the promotion of information-based classroom reform and the creation of Sias' smart teaching ecosystem.
Zhao Yuxia shared how teachers can use Superstar to carry out remote synchronous learning from two aspects - how to design and implement hybrid teaching based on the OBE (Outcomes Based Education) concept, and how the change of educational background of intelligent teaching triggers teachers' attention to information technology teaching and management innovation. She also spoke about how teachers should design student-centered classroom activities in specific cases. She also shared 10 tips for blended learning and encouraged teachers to reshape the traditional classroom and enhance students' learning by using information-based teaching tools.
Wang Yinping shared the curriculum design of College English from 3 aspects - teaching philosophy, online teaching methods, and teaching methods. She explained the design experience before, during, and after class. She said that in classroom design, one should be results-oriented, reconstruct the teaching model, and guide students to learn new ways and methods to achieve their goals. She highlighted the curriculum goal of "integrating values into the teaching of knowledge and training of abilities", to guide students to organically combine their outlook on life, values, and the world, with learning English and enhancing their sense of social responsibility, national pride, and cultural self-confidence.
Liu Ying introduced the creation of the operating system course, and in combination with her teaching process and experience in academic course creation, shared about the implementation process of diversified evaluation course from the aspects of course teaching, the expected effect, teaching design ideas, and specific links. She said that a good teaching effect should be based on students' effective pre-class preparation and teachers' efficient classroom teaching, with an improved class interaction and review. She said that she believed that in integrated teaching, the creation of curriculum resources was the foundation and that the student-centered teaching process was the key.
Ma Bin shared 6 steps of designing online course structures from the perspective of course characteristics and students' needs, combined with the online "live broadcast" teaching method for art courses. He provided a demonstration for the online teaching of similar training courses. He stressed that art teachers should use the natural advantages of art and politics by skillfully integrating ideological and political elements into teaching, adhering to the educational concept of 'Building Morality and Nurturing People', and by prioritizing ideological and political education and culture.
The online teaching training meeting focused on improving teachers' ability to use information technology to serve online teaching for the orderly development of online teaching. Sias University aims to continue the promotion of the integration of information technology and teaching.
