The Commencement Ceremony for the graduating Class of 2020 was held on the 5th of June at the Sias Basketball Arena. The Founder, and Chairman of the Board of Sias, Dr. Shawn Chen, Sias Party Secretary, Ma Jiansheng, Deputy Party Secretary, Li Huafeng, Vice President Zhao Yuxin, and Vice President Xu Shengdao attended the ceremony. The chief guest was the Founder and CEO of POP Mart, and Outstanding Sias Alumnus, Wang Ning. Representatives of all academic schools, residential colleges, and departments were present, along with almost 2,000 graduates from the Class of 2020. The Class of 2020 was not able to have their Commencement in 2020 because of the restrictions brought about by the fight against the Coronavirus Pandemic at the time.

After the singing of the national anthem of the People's Republic of China, Dr. Shawn Chen delivered a speech. He said that 2020 was a unique and special year, particularly for the Class of 2020. Sias had now kept its promise of holding a Commencement for the Class of 2020. He said that Sias was always focused on its students, but also on the development of its alumni. He encouraged the graduates to face challenges head-on and hold fast to their ideals.

Wang Ning congratulated the graduates and shared some of his experiences. He said that it was natural for people to face a time of helplessness while growing up, but that they should not complain and remain curious and brave to face challenges and grasp opportunities.

Teachers' Representative, Yue Changqi, spoke from her experience and said that she would cherish a reunion with students from the Class of 2020. She encouraged the graduates to work hard and contribute to the nation.

Graduate Representative, Tian Yuxin, thanked Sias for fulfilling its promise to hold a graduation ceremony for the Class of 2020. She spoke of the reform and achievements of Sias and the emotional bond that graduates have for their university. She also said that Sias' East-meets-West philosophy and emphasis on a holistic education prepared students for contributions to the nation.

The 2020 Commencement ended with choral performances by the choir from the School of Music & Opera.
