Sias holds Covid-19 Vaccination Drive

May 19, 2021

Sias University held a large-scale vaccination drive on the 18th of May, according to arrangements made by the Zhengzhou and Xinzheng governments. Sias set up Covid-19 vaccination working groups to formulate vaccination plans for the orderly vaccination of teachers and students. The Party Secretary and Director of the Xinzheng Health Commission, Li Changfa, and the Party Secretary of the Xinyan Sub-district Office in Xinzheng, Ma Huiping, were present to guide the vaccination drive.

The Founder, and Chairman of the Board of Sias, Dr. Shawn Chen, Sias Party Secretary, Ma Jiansheng, Deputy Party Secretary, Li Huafeng, and Vice President, Xu Shengdao, conducted an on-site inspection. The Sias leaders inspected the arrangements and facilities of the vaccination site and inquired about the preparations, security, and layout. They also thanked the medical staff and volunteers at the vaccination site. They instructed students and teachers to ensure that they followed all the regulations and requirements for vaccination, with an emphasis on efficiency because of the large number of people and the shortage of time.

Sias set up the vaccination site in the Basketball Arena and divided it into several sections - the (pre-registration) waiting area, examination area, registration area, (pre-vaccination) waiting area, vaccination area, observation area, and an emergency area. The flow of people was controlled to improve efficiency. Students and teachers were instructed to have their ID cards and wear masks as well. Over 200 medical staff were present from across Xinzheng city, including the Xinhua Health Service Center and the Xinzheng People's Hospital.

The vaccination drive began at 8 a.m. with students and teachers lining up outside the Basketball Arena. Following body temperature checks, those hoping to get vaccinated were let into the site in a regulated and orderly process. In the (pre-registration) waiting area, doctors inquired in detail about each individual's medical history to check whether they qualified for the vaccine. Following this, IDs were checked and individuals filled out consent forms for the vaccination. Students and teachers were instructed to stay in the post-vaccination observation area for 30 minutes to ensure that they had no adverse reactions or discomfort. Over 20,000 students and teachers were vaccinated.

The situation concerning Covid-19 in China is stable, but there are still risks of imported cases that spread locally. The vaccination drive aims to reduce the risk of transmission and cases.
