Sias University held an on-site meeting on the reform of education in colleges and universities in the province of Henan. The meeting was held on the 26th of April.

Member of the Standing Committee of the Henan Communist Party Committee, Minister of Publicity, and Party Secretary of the Working Committee of the Henan Communist Party Committee for Colleges and Universities, Jiang Ling, and Vice Governor of the province of Henan, Huo Jinhua, attended the meeting.

Jiang Ling pointed out that reform in the residential college system is an innovation of modern education at universities, and a powerful tool for holistic education. The all-round development of students, with ideological and political education at its core, was an important step concerning this reform.

Jiang Ling stressed that it was important to evolve the concepts and integrate thought with action into the major requirements necessary for nurturing morality among students. The role of the students was vital to the process of reform of the residential college system. He said it was necessary for the systems and mechanisms in place in the residential colleges to coordinate the relationship between academic schools and residential colleges - integrating their resources, combining theoretical study with practical exercises, and adjusting measures to local conditions at the university. The collaborative education between academic schools and residential colleges should be based on systematic thinking, a broad perspective, and integrity.

Representatives from Henan University of Science and Technology, Zhengzhou University of Aeronautics, Sanquan College at Xinxiang Medical University, and Zhengzhou University, and four other universities also delivered speeches. Before the meeting, Jiang Ling and Huo Jinhua visited 3 of Sias' residential colleges - Mingli Residential College, Qixian Residential College, and Huanyu Residential College.
