Sias University hosted a training course for managers of private colleges and universities in the province of Henan, organized by the Henan Department of Education, from November 25 to 27. Second Level Inspector at the Henan Department of Education, Dong Yumin, the Deputy Director of the Policy & Regulation Department, Zhang Baozhu, the Founder and Chairman of the Board of Sias, Dr. Shawn Chen, and Sias Vice President, Zhao Yuxin, attended the opening ceremony of the training course. Almost 100 people from over 20 private colleges and universities from across Henan, including university presidents, vice presidents, directors, teachers, educational administrators, and members of financial departments.
Dr. Chen welcomed all those in attendance and spoke about the development process, overall planning, and status of Sias. He also thanked the Henan Department of Education for their trust and support for Sias.
Dong Yumin spoke of the importance of private education under the leadership of the Communist Party of China. He said that it is an important point of growth and an important part of the reform of the educational system. He said that the Henan Communist Party Committee and the Henan Government actively supported the development of private education, and it had become an important part of the educational system of the province. He said that private colleges and universities should have a good direction for their development. He also put forward requirements for the training course and said that he hoped that the participants would improve their political and ideological education, implement the national and provincial requirements on teaching and financial management, focus on learning opportunities, and promote the reform of education and teaching at the various educational institutions. He encouraged all the participants to improve the level of private colleges and universities in Henan.
There were several special lectures at the training course. Guo Xiaoping, a performance management expert from the Henan Department of Finance, delivered a lecture titled "Theory and Practice of Budget Performance Management in Private Colleges and Universities". The Deputy Director of the Henan Education Evaluation Center, Prof. Zhang Xinmin, spoke about understanding new situations, adapting to new requirements, and realizing new breakthroughs, in a lecture titled, "Thoughts on the Connotative Development of Private Higher Education from the Perspective of the 'Shuangwan Plan'". Dr. Que Mingkun, from the Institute of Education at Xiamen University, presented a special report titled "Improving the Modernization Level of the Governance System, and the Governance Capacity of Private Colleges and Universities in the New Era".
The training course not only focused on systematic studies and new national regulations and policies, but also focused on improving sustainable development, broadening the vision, and enhancing the communication between private educational institutions in Henan.
