22nd International Culture Week Opening Ceremony

The Opening Ceremony of Sias University's 22nd International Culture Week was held on November 2 at Sias' Italian Square. The Founder and Chairman of the Board of Sias, Dr. Shawn Chen, Sias Party Secretary, Ma Jiansheng, Executive President, Wang Jialin, and Deputy Party Secretary, Li Huafeng, attended the ceremony. The Director of the Office of International Affairs (OIA), Yue Junliang, presided over the ceremony.


Wang Jialin welcomed the leaders and guests and thanked the teachers and students who were scheduled to participate in performances and cultural activities. He said that international cooperation was very important, particularly with the Coronavirus pandemic, to drive social progress. He said that Sias' tradition of the International Culture Week was a testament to the university's commitment to international cooperation and internationalization. He said that he hoped that students would learn about different cultures from around the world.


After this, Dr. Shawn Chen and Ma Jiansheng officially opened Sias' 22nd International Culture Week.


Among the cultural activities on the first day, teachers and students were able to watch a variety of examples of Chinese folk culture and art, portrait painting, calligraphy, gourd pyrography, and a traditional raree-show (la yang pian). Traditional snacks and handicrafts were also on sale at Sias' Italian Square.


The International Culture Week will be held for 6 days, from November 2 to 7, and will include designated days for celebrating the cultures from different regions of the world - China Day, Asia Day, Latin America & Africa Day, North America & Australia Day, and Europe Day. During the International Culture Week, Sias will also host basketball matches, a non-native language singing competition, concerts, the finals of the English Reading Contest, and lectures by experts and scholars from across China.
