KII hosts Lecture on Chinese Elements in Western Literature

Sias University's Kansas International Institute (KII) held a lecture titled "Chinese Imagery and Chinese Elements in Western Literature" on November 4. The Vice President of the School of Foreign Languages & International Relations at Zhengzhou University, Prof. Liu Yongjie, delivered the lecture with a background of global cultural diversity.


Taking examples such as Snow White, Liu Yongjie cited examples of Chinese elements in Western literature. He spoke about perspectives such as "the other" in combination with cross-cultural theories and cultural diversity and analyzed cultural misreading. He also spoke of the transformation that showed the differences between Chinese and Western cultures across different dimensions. He proposed that cultural differences should be respected so that the world would learn more about the Chinese culture and understand it.
