Sias' School of Foreign Languages held a seminar for 648 freshmen majoring in English and Business English on the 23rd of October. The Dean of the School of Foreign Languages, Shen Nana, the Executive President, Wang Huan, the Director of the Business English Department, Zhang Dexue, the Director of the Translation Department, Wang Yunhua, and teaching secretaries of all English majors, as well as all the freshmen majoring in English and Business English attended the seminar.

Shen Nana spoke of Sino-foreign cooperative teaching and the objectives of the School of Foreign Languages, as well as the achievements of English majors with academic course creation, professional development, and curriculum. He encouraged the freshmen to adapt, have clarity with regard to their goals, correct their attitudes, make use of Sias' resources, formulate professional development plans, and develop good learning habits.

Wang Huan focused on 6 keywords of university life: goals, attitude, management, initiative, resources, and persistence. He called on the freshmen to implement timely learning plans, establish good professional foundations and efficient learning methods, and set goals for their postgraduate entrance examination.

Zhang Dexue explained the talent training plans for English majors and Business English majors from the aspects of the maintenance of standards, training objectives, and the curriculum. He spoke about the development of the English majors and encouraged the freshmen to start working hard as soon as possible.

The freshmen were also given explanations of Sias’ teaching management regulations to help them understand the rules and adapt to life at the university.
