Sias University organized an opening drill on August 27, for the first semester of the 2020/21 academic year to make the prevention and control work for the Coronavirus pandemic smooth and successful by promoting reform through practice, finding problems, and making up for deficiencies through exercise. Sias Party Secretary, Ma Jiansheng, Executive President, Wang Jialin, Deputy Party Secretary, Li Huafeng, Vice President, Zhao Yuxin, Vice President, Xu Shengdao, and Vice President, and Chairman of the Trade Union, Wu Hua, attended the event. All mid-level leaders from across Sias participated in the drill. Wang Jialin presided over the event.

Ma Jiansheng delivered the opening speech and said that the main tasks facing the prevention and control groups were the prevention of all varieties of cases of the Coronavirus pandemic - imported cases, recurrences, sudden outbreaks, and complacency. He said that the staff at Sias should adhere to and implement the requirements of the Ministry of Education, as well as the directives of the Zhengzhou metropolitan government and the government of Xinzheng. The primary goal was to ensure a safe and meticulous reopening of the university. He also said that the groups and grass-roots organizations under the Communist Party Committee should take the initiative to assign responsibilities and a clear division of labor to ensure coordinated, orderly, and standardized operations including rapid emergency responses to maintain a safe and secure campus.

Wu Hua spoke about the importance of the drill. He read out the precautions and formally announced the start of the drill.

In accordance with the requirements at the beginning of the first semester, the drill simulated several aspects of prevention and control work at entry points and key public areas such as the East Gate, Boya Residential College, and Cafeteria 5. These included identity verifications, luggage disinfection, body temperature detection, hand disinfection, information registration, reservations, and ordering and delivery of meals. The drill also included emergency treatment for students with abnormal body temperatures.

After the drill, a summary meeting was held in the Lecture Hall of the Administration Building. The Director of the Administration Office, Qin Nan, presided over the meeting.

At the meeting, the leaders of each segment of the drill delivered speeches and summarized the experience and process of the drill. They also reported on the problems faced and encouraged everyone to maintain a high level of awareness for the start of the first semester.

In his concluding speech, Ma Jiansheng thanked the staff who participated in the drill for their hard work. He said that he approved of the preparations, locations, and effectiveness of the drill.
