Sias University held training seminars for new employees on September 1 and 2. The seminars were for the new employees to adapt and integrate into the working environment at Sias as soon as possible. The training involved 129 new employees.
Before the training meeting, representatives of new teachers and those hired for other positions shared their first impressions of Sias. Leaders and trainees then watched the official promotional film of Sias. The Director of the Human Resources Department, Sun Minghao, spoke about the educational philosophy and concept of Sias in detail and explained the training arrangements.
The Founder and Chairman of the Board of Sias, Dr. Shawn Chen, delivered a speech through a live video. He welcomed the new employees on behalf of the university and said that he hoped that they would help Sias create a working environment of integrity, sincerity, and trust. He put forward a few demands:
- First, all employees should have a sense of responsibility and innovation, not forgetting their purpose as educators and their mission and goal of teaching and educating students;
- Second, it is necessary to become a part of the Sias culture, to remember the university motto - "East-meets-West; Knowledge meets practice" - and develop an international mindset and innovative spirit.
Dr. Chen also had interactions and exchanges with new employees in a Q&A session.
Sias Vice President, and Chairman of the Trade Union, Wu Hua, said that the purpose of the training was to provide a platform for learning and exchanges so that trainees could quickly integrate into Sias and become familiar with the workflow, understand the culture, and work together to combine their personal progress with the development of the university.
In a special lecture, Vice President Zhao Yuxin shared from his own teaching experiences on the required qualities and skills of a teacher, focusing on scientific research and management. He said that employees should have 5 qualities in their teaching profession - hard work, conscience, responsibility, art, and innovation. He also said that employees should have 5 aspects to their teaching - teaching knowledge, teaching methods, teaching state, teaching life, and teaching oneself. He encouraged teachers to be good at learning, diligent, self-disciplined, willing to cooperate with each other, and innovative.
Wu Hua gave a special lecture on the development of young teachers. Starting from the problems faced by young teachers in colleges and universities, he analyzed the advantages, disadvantages, opportunities, and challenges in their development. He proposed that teachers should work towards the solutions of problems in teaching, improve their learning, develop their management, and be realistic, innovative, and moral.
During the training period, representative staff from various departments at Sias shared their experiences with teaching, development, online resource utilization, teaching evaluation, research, management, teaching skills and methods. They also shared their experiences with regard to departmental operations management, personnel management, performance appraisals, financial management, educational administration management, office software application and information security. There were also talks on integrity, self-discipline, teachers' etiquette, official document writing, and other rules, regulations, and work processes at the university to help new employees get familiar with the work environment. The training also included sessions on quality development, exchanges, and cooperation for common progress.
The university leaders said that they hoped that the training was useful to all the participants and that they would integrate into the culture of the university as soon as possible. They encouraged the trainees to study the university's rules and regulations, and work standards so that they could contribute to the continually improving quality and development of the university.
