Sias University's Trade Union, Academic Affairs Office, and Scientific Research Department organized the preliminary round of the 2020 Henan Education Teaching Skills Competition on July 16. Sias Party Secretary, Ma Jiansheng, Vice President, Zhao Yuxin, and Vice President and Chairman of the Trade Union, Wu Hua, attended the competition.

Sias University attaches great importance to the teaching skill competition, and the Academic Affairs Office and Scientific Research Department established an expert evaluation group composed of professors and associate professors. At the opening ceremony, the Vice Chairman of Sias' Trade Union, Zhang Ru, introduced the plan for the teaching skills competition. He said that the competition was divided into preliminary rounds and a final round. The preliminary rounds are organized by universities, and the final round will be organized by the Henan Provincial Teaching Skills Competition Group. He also introduced the changes in Sias' preliminary rounds and pointed out the importance of the competition for teachers, particularly in 2020, with the competition not only showcasing teachers' skills but also promoting an improvement in their teaching quality. He stressed that it also promoted the development of young teachers at Sias and said that he hoped that through the competition, more young teachers would focus on the improvement of their teaching skills and academic levels.

The teachers participating in the competition were divided into two groups: the Liberal Arts Group, and the Science Group. The contestants were evaluated from a variety of aspects including the lesson design and teaching content, solving difficult points, teaching methods, the use of multimedia, and blackboard writing.

After the evaluation of teachers' skills and the completion of the preliminary rounds at Sias, 10 teachers from fields including the liberal arts, ideological and political science, and engineering, were selected to progress to the final (provincial) round. The 10 teachers will represent Sias University in the finals.
