The 2020 Summer Work Conference at Sias University began on July 20. The conference is held to clearly set out, and review, the work objectives of the upcoming 2020/21 academic year. Sias leaders present at the conference included the Founder and Chairman of the Board, Dr. Shawn Chen; Sias Party Secretary, Ma Jiansheng; Executive President, Wang Jialin; Deputy Party Secretary, Li Huafeng; Vice President, Zhao Yuxin; Vice President, Xu Shengdao, and Sias Vice President and Chairman of the Trade Union, Wu Hua. University administrators, the Chairman of the Parents Committee, the Chairman of the Student Union, and the Chairman of the Federation of Student Associations also attended the conference. Ma Jiansheng presided over the opening ceremony.

The conference began with a performance by a string quartet from the Sias' School of Music & Opera.

Dr. Shawn Chen delivered the opening speech and introduced the new university leaders and mid-level Party members who had recently joined Sias. He announced the adjustments to the organizational structure and delivered a mobilization report. He spoke about the importance of innovation across the university, the ranking of the university, the rate of admissions among graduates in the postgraduate entrance examination, academic courses, employment, and other important topics. He encouraged the staff to improve their awareness, innovate in their work, formulate consistent work plans, and make a concerted and unified effort for the development of the university.

Wu Hua then introduced the arrangements and requirements of the 2020 Summer Work Conference. He said that he hoped that all those in attendance would closely focus on the tasks, understand the spirit of the conference, and apply what is learned.

In the first session of the day, Wang Jialin delivered a mobilization report on the preparation of a new 5-year plan for Sias. He said that the 5-year plan was a blueprint and action plan to guide the reform and development of the university over the next 5 years (2021-2025). It is also to be an important basis for the university to formulate policies and annual work plans. Focusing on the significance of planning, development planning systems, and situation analyses, Wang Jialin elaborated on the work and preparations for the 5-year plan. He clarified several key issues and listed the strategic development objectives of the university.

In the afternoon session, Zhao Yuxin spoke about the qualified assessment of undergraduate teaching work, the interpretation of the evaluation index system, the preliminary considerations of the evaluation and construction stage, and the overall requirements of the evaluation and construction work, focusing on the interpretation and explanation of the evaluation index system. He said that the entire university needed to be united in purpose and goals. He encouraged innovation, the importance of quality, responsibilities, and discipline.

The 2020 Summer Work Conference is scheduled to last for 3 days. During the conference, the administrative departments, academic schools, and residential colleges at Sias were to present the innovation and breakthroughs in each department in the form of presentations. A variety of team-building activities and platforms for mutual exchanges were set up for the 3-day conference. The conference was held at Sias' new Student Activity Center and was the first large-scale event held at the venue.
