Sias University invited Prof. Wu Shulian, the former Secretary-General of the Chinese Academy of Management Sciences, and the Head of the Research Group of China University Evaluation, to deliver a speech at the 2020 Summer Work Conference. Prof. Wu's speech was centered on the law of higher education of China, and shed light on the main contents and index system of university evaluation of China with detailed and objective data. He also put forward suggestions for Sias to enhance its comprehensive strength and achieve its goals with regard to scientific research achievements, awards, and innovation.

Prof. Wu's speech was followed by a series of work reports presented by the heads of various departments at Sias.

In his report, the Founder and Chairman of the Board of Sias, Dr. Shawn Chen, put forward 5 points for the upcoming 2020-21 academic year:

- First, it is necessary to put forward an employment promotion plan, the special guidance plan for the postgraduate entrance examination, an overseas guidance plan, a special classwork plan for undergraduate qualification assessment, and a plan for improving the pass rate of CET-4 examination;

- Second is to improve the integration of production and education, and formulate incentive measures;

- Third, to increase ties with world-famous universities and continue to make world-class educational resources available to students;

- Fourth, to help improve the academic course creation and scientific research level;

- Fifth, to improve the standard of the liberal education, and create and nurture a unique combination of "liberal education + holistic education + integrated education".

Dr. Chen also spoke of the importance of teaching methods, the credit system, and staying ahead of the curve with regard to educational ideas.

Wu Hua summarized his own work over the past academic year. He said that teaching had to remain at the core of the running of Sias, with teachers as the foundation and students as the prime focus. He said that a clear direction was imperative for four particular actions:

- transparency throughout the university

- a continuous improvement of efficiency

- relentless determination

- an amiable attitude

He also encouraged Sias employees to get to know each other, focus on their duties, be resourceful, and continue to be vigilant with regard to the prevention and control of the Coronavirus pandemic.

Xu Shengdao put forward 3 points:

- Student work was paramount. Sias employees in the Academic Affairs Office and Residential Colleges should maintain a high standard with regard to student management

- Enrollment was particularly important, and employees should be innovative in their publicity methods for enrollment by expanding channels and consolidating their source bases

- Employment and entrepreneurship should be done well, particularly the normalization of employment guidance, the normalization of online and offline selection meetings, contact with former employers, and the normalization of feedback of graduates' statuses.

Zhao Yuxin focused on teaching and scientific research in his report. He emphasized the need to consolidate one's foundations and put forward 8 points:

- First, consolidate the basic work of assessment by implementing regular evaluations;

- Second, create first-class majors and academic courses;

- Third, promote the establishment of unique and structured specialties;

- Fourth, deepen the integration of production and education as a method of training and nurturing applied talent;

- Fifth, strengthen the quality assurance system based on high standards;

- Sixth, improve the teaching management system;

- Seventh, increase disciplined competition to spur students and faculty to better results;

- Eighth, raise the level of scientific research.

Li Huafeng spoke about the importance of innovation and breakthroughs in work. His report listed 7 points:

- First, Sias should promote Xi Jinping's ideology of Socialism with Chinese Characteristics;

- Second, an ideological responsibility system should be implemented;

- Third, morality was to be built among students through innovative working methods in the Communist Youth League;

- Fourth, the comprehensive development of the residential college system was to continue;

- Fifth, high-level competitive events were to be established as a part of the Sias mechanism;

- Sixth, brand promotion and good publicity were a vital aspect of the work for the coming academic year;

- Seventh, preparations were to be made for the 1st Communist Party Congress at Sias University.

Wang Jialin focused on development in his report. He put forward 7 necessary measures for the work centered on the 5-year plan (2021-2025):

- professional discipline improvement

- teacher development projects

- quality talent training

- strategies for international promotion and publicity

- projects to aid governance

- service and support

- ensuring a safe campus.

Ma Jiansheng briefly reviewed the achievements of Sias in the past academic year. He elaborated on the tasks for the upcoming academic year and emphasized the importance of innovative breakthroughs, grass-roots Party building, and daily ideological and political work. He spoke of the need for unity in ideology, consensus, and problem-solving while being diligent in the need to balance the prevention and control of the Coronavirus pandemic and career development. The goal, he said, was to contribute to the Central Plains of China, with a view to next year's 100th anniversary of the Communist Party of China.

Dr. Chen then delivered the closing speech in which he thanked the Sias staff for their hard work and positive attitude. He said that the Summer Work Conference had affirmed Sias' development over the past academic year with impressive work reports. He said that he hoped that everyone involved with Sias would continue to be responsible for upholding the Sias culture, implementing work plans and policies, dealing with problems, and aiding the development of the university.

According to the schedule of the 2020 Summer Work Conference, all the administrative departments, academic schools, and residential colleges at Sias presented work plan reports on the 21st of July. The heads of each department focused on various topics such as education and teaching, innovation, scientific research, academic course creation, student management, campus culture, and undergraduate teaching qualification assessment reports in the upcoming academic year.

On the afternoon of the 21st, a special lecture was held on educational informatization and information security by a consultant at the IT management center, Li Xia. A forum on information and data security was also held.

The 2020 Summer Work Conference concluded with a celebration in the evening.
