Sias University held a working conference on prevention and control of the Covid-19 epidemic on March 2. The Founder and Chairman of the Board of Sias, Dr. Shawn Chen, Sias Party Secretary, Ma Jiansheng, Executive President, Wang Jialin, Deputy Party Secretary, Li Huafeng, and Vice Presidents Zhao Yuxin, Xu Shengdao, and Wu Hua were present along with the leaders of various epidemic prevention and control working groups at Sias. Wang Jialin presided over the meeting. The meeting was in-person as well as through a video conference.

At the meeting, Wu Hua briefed those present about the situation in China, Henan, and Sias University with regard to the Covid-19 epidemic prevention and control work. The leaders discussed the important directives about the epidemic from the Henan Party Committee and the Henan Government, put forward on February 26, along with the key points:

- Cadres at all levels of the university should be involved in epidemic prevention and control, without bureaucracy, in accordance with the requirements of the provincial Party Committee and the provincial government.

- Information should be accurate and management should have a smooth network

- Emphasize the need for training.

- Management of epidemic prevention and control in the university should be clearly designated and should report to the local government authorities.

- Improve the quality and promotion of online classes and teaching across all majors and subjects at Sias

- Improve the supervision and accountability of all aspects of epidemic prevention and control.

Wu Hua also said that teachers and students should be involved in the prevention and control of the Covid-19 epidemic, through cooperation, problem-solving, the sharing of information, formulation of working plans, innovation of methods, and the maintenance of high standards, as well as the promotion of education and teaching during the restrictions, brought about by the Covid-19 epidemic.

In his speech, Dr. Shawn Chen affirmed the work carried out through the Winter Vacation and expressed his gratitude to the staff who stayed on campus and the teachers who had tailored their courses for online classes during the second semester of the 2020/21 academic year. He also stressed that the university should adhere to the directives for the epidemic, publish regular progress reports, ensure that the prevention and control of the Covid-19 epidemic is thorough, and improve the quality of online classes.

The leaders of each epidemic prevention and control working group reported on the implementation of their plans. At the meeting, the Deputy Director of the Administration Office, Qin Nan, reported on the preparations for the supervisory visit of a delegation from Zhengzhou Municipal Bureau of Education. There were in-depth discussions on epidemic control and prevention with a focus on teaching and online classes since the start of the semester.

In his summary, Ma Jiansheng pointed out that the current domestic situation with regard to the epidemic was improving. In the face of the virus spreading to other countries, he said that Sias University could not afford to be slack in their efforts to prevent any possibilities of the Covid-19 virus being brought into Sias or spreading internally.
