Sias Students Organize Second Batch of Donations

March 20, 2020

Sias University students donated materials in support of the university's fight against the Covid-19 pandemic. Sias Executive President, Wang Jialin, and Vice President, Xu Shengdao, attended the donation ceremony.

On behalf of the university, the leaders thanked the students, Kang Youxin and Liu Zehua, for their dedication and support towards the prevention and control of the Covid-19 pandemic. Since the outbreak of the Novel Coronavirus, the Sias leadership has implemented the directives from General Secretary Xi Jinping for the prevention and control of the virus. During this period, groups of students and enterprises made outstanding contributions to the prevention and control of Covid-19 on the Sias campus, setting an example for teachers and students of the whole university.

Kang Youxin's donation included 50 kgs of 75% alcohol, 250 kgs of disinfectant, 32 barrels of bottled water, 60 boxes of masks, 100 boxes of medical gloves, and 60 boxes of medical alcohol wipes. Liu Zehua's donation included 110 kgs of 75% alcohol, 200 kgs of disinfectant, 10 boxes of 75% alcohol wipes, and 10 boxes of hand sanitizer. Kang Youxin is a student of the School of Literature, and Li Zehua is a student of the School of Electronics & Information Engineering, both from the class of 2022. Both students' donations were of their own expense.

Kang Youxin had approached the Communist Party Committee and has been serving in the Communist Youth League since he joined Sias. In September 2017, he joined the army and returned to Sias in 2019. Li Zehua has been active in public welfare activities and is also an active member of the Communist Party. The donations were all of the students' own initiative. They said that it was Sias' unique educational concept that had given them the confidence to take on responsibilities, nurture an attitude of gratitude, and taught them to be independent.

In addition to the donations by the students, there were several donations by companies including Zhengzhou Jia Jia Electronics, alumni snack food suppliers, and Henan Crown & Commerce Co.
