Sias Leadership Supervises Coronavirus Prevention & Control

On January 28, 2020, Sias leaders supervised prevention and control operations across the Sias campus for the Novel Coronavirus. Sias Party Secretary, Ma Jiansheng, Vice President, Wu Hua, and the heads of the Administration Office, Party Committee Office, Academic Affairs Office, Office of International Affairs, School Trade Union, Logistics Department, and Security Office, were involved in the supervision.


The university leaders inquired about the management of the closure of the campus at the East Gate Security Office and stressed the importance of strictly controlling the flow of people and vehicles into the Sias Campus, as well as closely monitoring the temperature of students, to reduce the risk of infection and establish a first line of defense against the Novel Coronavirus. In the outpatient department of the university, the leaders visited the front-line medical staff and inspected their equipment. They stressed the importance of vigilance with regard to the prevention and control of the epidemic and asked the medical staff to also focus on their own health and safety. The leaders also inquired about the international students' dormitory and the security arrangements to prevent anyone from entering their building.


Ma Jiansheng and Wu Hua then convened a Working Conference for epidemic prevention and control and appointed team leaders and staff to different working groups.


At the Conference, Wu Hua, the newly appointed Executive Vice Chairman of the Leading Group for Epidemic Prevention & Control, briefed the leaders on the implementation of epidemic prevention and control work. He pointed out that the leaders and staff of each working group should carry out their work in accordance with regulations and policies for the current situation. He said that the staff should be very careful in all aspects of their work, including the clarification of responsibilities and management, new information on the epidemic, the quick and smooth communication of information through various channels, education, protection, and make sure that they are in line with government policy for the prevention and control of the epidemic.


The leaders of all the working groups discussed the management of foreign teachers and international students, the implementation of epidemic prevention and control measures, and the management of the staff in their working groups.


Ma Jiansheng expressed his gratitude and encouragement to the staff working on the front lines of epidemic prevention and control. He asked them to remember their ideological commitments. He said that arrangements during this time that included campus sanitation, management of the living areas, and material allocation, were to be done in accordance with government policies at the provincial and state level. He also reminded them to ensure that education with regard to the awareness for self-protection was undertaken, along with the formulation of plans for the reopening of the university.
