Sias University held the 2019 Archives Work Commendation Conference and a Thematic Learning Conference on April 22. Sias President, Chen Sikun, attended the conference along with heads of several departments, and over 50 full-time and part-time archivists. The Director of the University Archives Office, Ding Linlin, presided over the meeting.

At the Conference, Chen Sikun spoke about the work of the archives department as one of the most important departments at Sias, and how it was a reflection of the level of management and quality of education of the university. He said that with the increasing level of informatization across the nation and the networking of intellectuals, archiving had taken on a new significance through information-based archives management. He also encouraged the continual upgrading of the archives system to keep up with the growing demand for easy-access, organized, and digitized archives resources.

The Deputy Director of the Administration Office, Ding Gongci, read out a list of the names of individuals involved in the organization of the archives from 2017 and 2018.

Ding Linlin presented the awards for excellence in organizational work from 2017, while Ding Gongci and Chen Sikun presented the awards to individuals involved in archival work from the 2017-2018 academic year.

After the presentation of awards, Ding Linlin spoke about several topics including scientific research and academic paper writing with regards to archives work. She said that Sias needed to improve its archives work through scientific research. She also gave a detailed explanation of the methods of writing academic papers on archives work and encouraged Sias' full-time and part-time archivists to pursue excellence in archival sciences on a provincial level.

While Sias University has a long way to go with regard to excellence in archives work, the progress over the past few years has been rapid and has improved significantly.
