An Inspection Team for Private Colleges & Universities visited Sias University on March 13. The members of the team were:

- Member of the Party Committee at Zhengzhou Institute of Technology, Sun Zhenying,

- Deputy Director of the Educational Affairs Department at Zhengzhou Institute of Technology, Tan Lixin,

- Deputy Director of the Student Affairs Department at Zhengzhou Preschool Education College, Li Yuanqi,

- Deputy Director of the Finance Department at Zhengzhou Tourism College, Liu Xinchao,

- Director of the Security Department of Zhengzhou Technical College, Chen Yufa,

- Director of the Higher Education Department of the Zhengzhou Municipal Education Bureau and head of the Non-governmental Higher Education Inspection Team, Chai Junjun.

The inspection team toured the Sias campus and visited campus facilities and educational and teaching sites including the European Street, Residential Colleges, Academic Schools, CUBA Training Facility, Golf Driving Range, Chinese Garden, and Library.

Sias delivered a work report at a special meeting for the inspection team in the conference room on the 10th floor of the Library. The Founder and Chairman of the Board of Sias, Dr. Shawn Chen, Party Secretary, Ma Jiansheng, Sias President, Chen Sikun, Executive President, Wang Jialin, Deputy Party Secretary, Li Huafeng, and Vice President, Wu Hua, attended the meeting. The heads of relevant departments, academic schools, and residential colleges also attended the meeting.

Dr. Chen welcomed the inspection team in a speech and said that Sias gave great importance to its annual self-examination. While combining Chinese and Western educational philosophies, Sias focused on a holistic education to nurture talent. He said that he hoped that the inspection team would put forward suggestions with regard to the development of the university. He also invited the members of the team to attend Sias' 20th Anniversary Celebrations, and the Joint AUAP-IAUP Conference in May.

Wang Jialin said that it was the first inspection since Sias had attained its status as an independent private undergraduate university. Sias had set up working groups and had held meetings to arrange for its departments to engage in self-examination. He said that he hoped that the visit of the inspection team would help Sias improve its working methods and overall quality.

Sun Zhenying praised Sias' facilities and educational model. He said that the team had been sent by the Zhengzhou Municipal Bureau of Education to inspect Sias. He briefly introduced the purpose and process of the inspection and said that he hoped that all universities, especially private universities, would increase the communication and exchanges between each other to promote the development of education in Henan.

After the team was shown the Sias' official promotional video, Ma Jiansheng spoke about the development of Sias over the past 20 years. He said that Sias had strictly implemented the educational policy of the Communist Party while adhering to its East-meets-West educational model. He said that Sias had grown steadily because of its holistic education, internal management, and educational reform. He said that the inspection would hold Sias in good stead for the future. In its new era of development as a private university, Sias continues to focus on innovation, the use of its high-quality resources both domestically and internationally, and strives to provide talent for economic and social progress in Henan.

Chen Sikun then presented a report in which he focused on 5 aspects of development: the evolution of university development; conditions for running the university; the work of the Party; norms and operating institutions in the university; characteristics of the university. His report pointed out that in the past 20 years, and with the support of the local government, educational authorities, Zhengzhou University, and society, the quality of education and teaching at Sias had steadily increased. Sias had always adhered to the law, especially in reference to ideology, discipline, faculty structure, and the work of the Party with regard to its running, international focus, recruitment, and students. The management had been developed with distinct characteristics, stability, and the promotion of social responsibility. This, he said, had borne considerable fruit. He also said that in the future, Sias would contribute to innovation and development in Henan, never compromising on quality.

After the report, the inspection team organized a seminar for teachers and students to better understand the running of the university.
