On January 4, Sias University was visited by a delegation from Fo Guang University. The delegation included the President of Fo Guang University, Prof. Yang Chao-hsiang, and the Director of the Office of International and Cross-Strait Affairs, Xie Daning. The Founder and Chairman of the Board of Sias, Dr. Shawn Chen, met with the delegation for discussions on various aspects of cooperation and exchanges.

Dr. Chen pointed out that Sias University and Fo Guang University have similarities in their academic structure, ideas, and characteristics, and that meant that the two universities had a good foundation for mutual cooperation and academic ties. He said that he hoped that the two universities would establish academic exchanges and increase cooperation. He also invited the leaders of Fo Guang University to attend Sias' 20th Anniversary celebrations in May, and the upcoming 2nd Joint Association of Universities in Asia & the Pacific (AUAP) - International Association of University Presidents (IAUP) Conference to be held at Sias in May 2019.

Prof. Yang Chao-hsiang said that Fo Guang University was committed to the quality of their education and the pursuit of knowledge. When it was founded, in the year 2000, the university focused on the Humanities with a modern take on Chinese education in an internationalized educational environment. He pointed out Sias University's location in the historically and culturally significant Central Plains and said that students, teachers, and scholars from Sias were always welcome to Fo Guang University for exchanges and cooperation.

The delegation also toured the Sias campus with the Director of Sias' Office of International Affairs, Yue Junliang.

Fo Guang University is a private university in Jiaoxi Township, Taiwan (China), and was founded in 2000. The President, Prof. Yang Chao-hsiang, was a politician and served as the Minister of Education in Taiwan (China) from 1999 to 2000.
