The Embassy of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam in Beijing held a ceremony to celebrate the 69th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Vietnam on January 17, 2019. The Founder and Chairman of the Board of Sias University, Dr. Shawn Chen, was invited to attend the ceremony in Beijing by the Ambassador of Vietnam to China, Dang Minh Khoi. Dr. Chen was accompanied by Prof. Guo Junfeng. The guest list included the Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs of China, Qin Gang.

Ambassador Dang Minh Khoi welcomed the guests, and in a speech pointed out that China was Vietnam’s most important trading partner and said that he welcomed the Chinese travelers and Chinese investment in Vietnam. He said that would work towards strengthening the relations between China and Vietnam.

Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs, Qin Gang, congratulated both China and Vietnam on the occasion of the 69th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries. He said that Vietnam was an important partner of China among the ASEAN nations, with both nations developing in positive directions. He said that the two nations should strengthen their unity and friendship, and deepen mutually beneficial cooperation to bring about tangible benefits to the peoples of the two nations.

During the event, Dr. Chen met with both Ambassador Dang Minh Khoi and Vice Minister Qin Gang, and invited both of them to attend Sias' 20th anniversary celebrations in May. Dr. Chen also met with the Cuban Ambassador to China, Miguel Ángel Ramírez, the Lao Ambassador, Vandy Bouthasavong, the South Sudanese Ambassador, John Andruga Duku, and the Indian Deputy Chief of Mission to China, Dr. Acquino Vimal.
