The Debate Competition Finals and the Closing Ceremony of the 14th Reading Festival were held at the Administration Building on November 13. The event was jointly sponsored by the Sias Library and the Communist Youth League. The Executive President of Sias, Wang Jialin, was present along with the heads of the Communist Youth League, the Huanyu Residential College, the Library, and several academic departments. The judges for the Debate Finals were teachers from the Communist Youth League, School of Journalism & Communication, and the Sias Library.

After the completion of the preliminary rounds and semi-finals, the teams from the Mingli Residential College and Zhiyuan Residential College reached the finals. At the end of a closely fought debate involving strong arguments and several speeches and quotes from classical Chinese literature, the team from the Zhiyuan Residential College came out on top.

The annual Debate Competition is of great significance for the Communist Youth League. It advances culture, increases the ability and confidence among participants, nurtures a more socially aware and responsible student, and raises the profile of the university, and its campus culture and educational environment. After the Debate Finals, the 14th Reading Festival was closed.
