On October 16, Sias International University held a symposium on the Double Ninth Festival (Chong Yang Jie) that focused on the traditional and cultural respect for one's elders as well as the Chinese nation's respect for teachers and educators.

Sias President, Chen Sikun, Executive President, Wang Jialin, Deputy Party Secretary, Li Huafeng, Vice President, Wu Hua, and Assistant Principal, Guo Xuede, attended the symposium. Leaders of the Administrative Office, Communist Party Committee, Academic Affairs Office, Supervision & Audit Office, Office of International Affairs, Human Resources Department, Propaganda Department, Labor Union, Logistics Office, Academic Schools, and Residential Colleges were also present. Over 60 professors, associate professors, and teachers from Taiwan attended the symposium. The Deputy Director of the Labor Union, Zhang Ru, presided over the meeting.

Deputy Party Secretary, Li Huafeng, expressed his greetings to those present for the Double Ninth Festival and thanked the professors and teachers for their dedication and hard work. He especially thanked the retired professors for their commitment to teaching and educating people. He said that Sias was fortunate to have so many experts and scholars. He also said that he hoped that professors and teachers would use their expertise and professionalism to raise the standard of students, more so in light of the upcoming 20th anniversary of Sias. He said that the 20th anniversary was a good opportunity for those at Sias to take stock of the history and development of the university and see how they could improve on what was already achieved.

Several teachers spoke to express their gratitude for the Double Ninth Festival at Sias. The experts and professors who spoke said that helping students was a great achievement and that they would continue in their mission and responsibility of educating the next generation for the benefit of the nation and society. There was also an open forum during which senior teachers put forward many pertinent suggestions and ideas for reform with regard to classroom teaching, the improvement of the curriculum, and university development.

Executive President, Wang Jialin, delivered the closing speech and spoke of the significance of the Chong Yang (Double Ninth) Festival to senior teachers. He said that it was a privilege to stand before those present at Sias and look back on his career as an educator. He said that he believed that the 20th anniversary of Sias would be a landmark event after which the staff should focus on nurturing students and relentlessly pursuing improvement in teaching, education, and development.
