On September 3, Sias International University's annual Freshman Military Training began with an official opening ceremony at the Track & Field Stadium. Chairman of the Board, Dr. Shawn Chen, along with Sias President, Chen Sikun, Executive President, Wang Jialin, Deputy Party Secretary, Li Huafeng, Vice President, Wu Hua, and Assistant Principal, Guo Xuede, were at the ceremony. Also present was the Head of the 2018 Freshman Military Training Corps, Hu Jiangtao, and Chief of Staff of the Military Training Corps, Fei Yulong, as were the heads of all departments, academic schools, and residential colleges. The Deputy Director of the Student Affairs Office, Chu Jinjin, presided over the opening ceremony.

After the playing of the Chinese national anthem, Dr. Shawn Chen gave the opening speech. He thanked the PLA officers and soldiers who were in charge of the military training and welcomed the freshmen of the 2018/19 academic year. He encouraged the new students to fully immerse themselves in the military training with all seriousness as the discipline learned would help them in their university life. He also reminded the freshmen that it was Sias' 20th anniversary, and they should not hesitate to take part in extra-curricular activities and continually strive to improve themselves.

Chen Sikun read out the rules and goals for the military training of the 2018/19 freshmen. Li Huafeng also delivered a speech directed at the freshmen and teachers.

Fei Yulong, speaking on behalf of the Military Training Corps, reminded the students that military training was an important part of the Party's educational policy. He said that he hoped that freshmen would pursue an all-round development. There were also brief speeches by the Representative of the Training Instructors, Ma Guanghui, and Freshman Representative, Wang Yuting.

The Opening Ceremony of the military training marks the beginning of the annual 2-week Military Training for freshmen at Sias. Almost 10,000 freshmen were present at the Track & Field Stadium.
