The opening ceremony of the 2017 Track & Field Games was held at Sias' Track & Field Stadium on April 20. Chief guests at the opening ceremony included President Emeritus of Fort Hays State University (FHSU), Dr. Edward Hammond; the Assistant Provost for Strategic Partnerships at FHSU, Cindy Elliott; Director of the Physical Education & Arts Department at the Henan Province Department of Education, Guo Weiwei; former Vice President of Sias International University, Dong Qiming; Vice President of Zhengzhou Institute of Finance & Economics, Chen Jing; Director of the Student Finance Management Center at Henan Normal University, Zhao Hongjie; Director of the Student Finance Management Center at the Henan University of Animal Husbandry and Economics, Wang Yuying; Director of Student Affairs at Nanyang Polytechnic University, Lu Ruifeng; Zhengzhou No.2 Middle School Researcher, Ren Jianmin; Vice President of Zhengzhou No.2 Middle School, Jiang Bo. Chairman of the Board of Sias, Dr. Shawn Chen was also present, along with Sias President, Dr. Chen Sikun; Vice President Liu Shuqin; Proctor Han Xiaoai; Assistant Principal Sun Rujian; as well as heads of the departments at Sias and more than 2,000 students and teachers. Sias Vice President, Liu Shuqin, presided over the opening ceremony.

President Emeritus of Fort Hays State University, Dr. Edward Hammond, announced the official opening of the 2017 Track & Field Games. This was followed by performances by the Sias Cheerleading Team, the Sias Dance Troupe, and the Innovation and Entrepreneurship Office. After this, the parade of contestants was held with students and employees of Sias in their respective groups, including the Alumni association, the Chinese and foreign faculty, and the Logistics Group among others.

After the Sias band played the Chinese and American national anthems, the Chairman of the Board of Sias, Dr. Shawn Chen, lit the flame that symbolizes Sias' spirit and hope. Sias President, Dr. Chen Sikun, delivered the opening speech and wished all the athletes. He went on to say that sports were an important part of a well-rounded education. With the continuous advancement of facilities and training at Sias, the quality and performance of the athletes had improved significantly in 2016. Sias athletes have won the doubles title at the 8th Henan Tennis Championships, the women's singles title at the Henan Badminton Championships, the 24th Henan Huaguang College Basketball League championship, the Double Ball Group and the Jazz Group at the Japan Cheerleading Open, and the 5th National Fitness Dance Competition (Henan Division). He said he hoped that all the athletes and judges would abide by the rules and fight for their prizes.

The President's speech was followed by large-scale performances at the Track & Field Stadium as part of the finale of the opening ceremony.

After two days of intense competition, the 2017 Track & Field Games were closed on the afternoon of April 21. Sias Party Secretary, Fei Hexiang, Sias President, Dr. Chen Sikun, Vice President Liu Shuqin, Assistant Principal Sun Rujian, and Assistant Principal Guo Xuede, attended the closing ceremony. Over 2,000 students and teachers were also present. Vice President Liu Shuqin presided over the closing ceremony. Sias Party Secretary, Fei Hexiang, delivered the closing address.
