Friday, October 8 - Sias University welcomed the first batch of freshmen from the 2021/22 academic year for registration on the 8th of October.
Sias had held orientation coordination meetings that covered special deployments, orientation work plans, carefully arranged Covid-19 prevention and control, off-campus pickups, traffic flow, personnel guidance, medical security, and logistics services. University leaders had inspected the orientation preparation sites several times to ensure that the materials were in place, the entry routes were clear, the dormitories were clean, and the campus was ready for the students.
On the day when the freshmen arrived the university leaders met with teachers and students who were working at the orientation sites and checked the Covid-19 prevention and control measures. They encouraged staff, who were working in the rain, to help clear the traffic congestion, streamline the check-in process, and provide services to help with the orientation. They also met with the freshmen and oversaw their registration, reminding them to keep in touch with their families, communicate with their teachers, and adapt to university life as soon as possible.
The freshmen underwent identity verification and temperature detection when entering the university campus, and also presented their health codes, travel codes, and nucleic acid test reports. After entering the campus, they took free shuttle buses provided by Sias and were taken to their dormitories by volunteers according to established routes. Student work cadres and student volunteers were spread across the campus to guide freshmen with their orientation, help them carry their luggage, answer questions, and help them navigate unfamiliar campus routes.
All the academic schools and residential colleges were decorated to showcase their unique themes and achievements. While handling the check-in procedures for freshmen, they also held Q&A sessions that covered various aspects of their four-year university life. There were performances by the Sias Marching Band, Flag Guard, and student associations to create a welcoming atmosphere for the freshmen.
In the evening, the university leaders and heads of departments visited student dormitories and greet the freshmen. At each dormitory, the leaders met with students and inquired about their opinions on university life. They reminded the students to remain vigilant concerning the Covid-19 pandemic, take care of their belongings, communicate with their tutors, and adapt to university life quickly.
During the orientation, Sias carried out nucleic acid testing for all the teaching staff and freshmen to ensure that the Covid-19 prevention and control work was thorough and the campus was safe.
Sias University has arranged to bring in the freshmen of the 2021/22 academic year in staggered batches on the 8th and 9th of October.
