A bilingual Chinese and English reading version of Laozi's Tao Te Ching was compiled by the Founder, and Chairman of the Board of Sias University, Dr. Shawn Chen, and published recently. A ceremony was held on December 8 for its release.

The ceremony was attended by Second Level Inspector at the Henan Department of Education, and President of the 7th Council of the Henan Education Association for International Exchange, Xu Hengzhen; former First-Class Inspector at the Culture & Tourism Department of Henan Province, and Deputy Director of the Expert Committee of the Henan Research Center for Public Culture, Kang Jie; former senior diplomat at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People's Republic of China, Executive Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors of the U.S.-China Business Association, and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Hong Kong Intellectual Property Exchange, Wu Gaolin; Chief Executive of the Hong Kong Intellectual Property Exchange, Ling Jialian; President of Henan Tianyi Culture Communication, Zhang Changzheng; and Sias Vice President, Zheng Min.

Dr. Chen said that Laozi was a famous Chinese philosopher, and his Tao Te Ching was an important window for the world to understand China and the province of Henan. He said that the purpose of compiling a Chinese and English reading version of Laozi's Tao Te Ching was to help more people to learn more about Laozi's philosophy, to spread cultural self-confidence, and make a positive contribution to traditional Chinese culture. He said that the knowledge in the book had been fully preserved.

In combination with his personal experience and his diplomatic experience, Wu Gaolin, spoke to those present about the wisdom and philosophy in Tao Te Ching, and spoke about the compilation process of the bilingual Chinese and English reading version.

The Chinese and English reading version of Laozi's Tao Te Ching is based on a silk book unearthed in Changsha in 1973 as its primary outline, with other popular versions as references. The book took 5 years to recalibrate and re-translate. During the compilation process, Dr. Shawn Chen and Wu Gaolin, read and understood the original work, verified a number of documents, compared dozens of English versions, deliberated on each sentence, and compiled it according to the correct chapter sequence and expression of the first edition. They adhered to the philosophy and sentiment of Laozi's original work. The interpretation and amendment of difficult words and sentences teach readers outside China to pronounce words correctly and grasp the profound meanings in Tao Te Ching, thereby understanding a part of traditional Chinese culture.
