2022 'Cloud' Graduation Ceremony

Due to the restrictions set in place to combat the Covid-19 pandemic, Sias University's graduating class of 2022 could not have their graduation ceremony in person. The university, therefore, organized an online 'Cloud' Graduation Ceremony for the students. Over 10,000 students graduated from the class of 2022.

The chief guests at the 2022 graduation ceremony included member of the Standing Committee of the Communist Party Committee, and Chief Accountant of Zhengzhou University, Xu Dongsheng, President of Fort Hays State University, Dr. Tisa Mason, Founder, and Chairman of the Board of Sias, Dr. Shawn Chen, Sias Party Secretary, Ma Jiansheng, Acting President, Zhao Yuxin, Deputy Party Secretary, and Secretary of the Discipline Inspection Commission, Li Huafeng, Vice President, and Chairman of the Trade Union, Wu Hua, and Vice President, Zheng Min. The deans of all the academic schools and residential colleges at Sias were also present for the ceremony.

After the singing of the national anthem of the People's Republic of China, and the Sias University song (My Sias), Dr. Shawn Chen delivered a speech. On behalf of the university, he congratulated the graduates on the completion of their degrees and encouraged them to uphold the unique characteristics of Sias graduates, such as self confidence, self improvement, and self reliance. He stressed that university education was not the end of the road of learning. He said that in an era of rapid change, innovation, and development, the graduates should maintain the momentum of learning beyond university, improve their confidence, and bravely work towards their goals.

Entrusted by the Vice Chairman of the Henan CPPCC and Party Secretary of Zhengzhou University, Liu Jiongtian, Xu Dongsheng congratulated the graduates on behalf of Zhengzhou University and put forward three points of advice to the graduates. First, they should have lofty ambitions and be willing to contribute to the nation. Second, they should maintain an enterprising spirit in combination with an attitude of lifelong learning and a pursuit of excellence. Third, they should always be grateful and love life.

Dr. Tisa Mason congratulated all the graduates in a video message. She said that she hoped that they would maintain a positive attitude and be willing to help others, respect others, always be patient, and compassionate.

Teachers' Representative, Chen Yamin, wished the graduates and said that she hoped that the graduates would mature, improve their confidence, and be responsible, building upon the knowledge they had learned at Sias in the past four years.

Graduate Representative, Yan Ziqi, shared her life and experiences over the past four years at Sias University. She thanked the university leaders and teachers for their work towards nurturing, training, educating, and guiding students.

At the ceremony, Zheng Min announced the list of winners of 2022 scholarships, as well as the list of third-place students. Wu Hua announced the list of second-place students. Li Huafeng announced the list of first-place students. Zhao Yuxin announced the list of outstanding Sias University graduates, and Ma Jiansheng announced the list of outstanding Zhengzhou University graduates. Dr. Shawn Chen announced the list of students who had won scholarships to study abroad.

At the end of the ceremony, Xu Dongsheng announced the graduation of the Zhengzhou University class of 2022 at Sias, and Zhao Yuxin announced the graduation of the Sias University class of 2022. The 2022 'Cloud' Graduation Ceremony concluded with a graduation video produced by the Sias News Center.
