On May 27, a four-member delegation from the Henan Provincial Library visited Sias University to promote cultural exchanges and cooperation. The delegation included the Director of the Henan Provincial Library, Kong Dechao, the Party Secretary, Zhao Li, and Deputy Directors, Shen Shaochun and Liu Jie. Sias Vice President, Zheng Min, along with the heads of the Academic Affairs Office, and Mingli Residential College. The delegation held discussions with Sias leaders about the preparation of the academic library as well.
At the meeting, Zheng Min welcomed Kong Dechao and his delegation. She spoke about Sias' East-meets-West educational philosophy, the innovative residential college system as a second classroom, and the wide range of student associations on campus. She said that creating a library at each residential college was a reflection of Sias' commitment to exploration and innovation. She said that she hoped that the two sides would strengthen exchanges and cooperation, explore new ideas of cultural education together, and educate students for the Communist Party and the nation.
The Director of the Academic Affairs Office and Executive Dean of the Residential Colleges, Qin Nan, also spoke at the meeting. She said that the innovation will enhance the education at Sias and build the cultural and educational functions of the residential colleges. She pledged that the General Office of the Residential Colleges will give this initiative its full support. The head of the Sias library said that the creation of academic libraries would supplement the [main] Sias Library. They said that the Sias Library would spare no effort to provide theoretical and technical support for this initiative.
Kong Dechao said that the creation of a strong traditional cultural atmosphere on campus would be conducive to the dissemination of knowledge. He said that the Henan Provincial Library will provide support for the preparation of the library at Mingli Residential College through cooperation, exchanges, and cultural activities such as the reading of Chinese classics, reading clubs, and Communist Party education. Delegation members Zhao Li, Shen Shaochun, and Liu Jie also spoke at the meeting.
The Dean of Mingli Residential College, Qin Shuguang, expressed his gratitude to the members of the delegation from the Henan Provincial Library for their support in this endeavor. He spoke about the positive role that a library would have on a university campus concerning academics, studying habits, and other educational functions in a residential college.
During the visit, the delegation from the Henan Provincial Library went on a tour of the Sias campus and visited the Student Activity Center, Library, Chinese Garden, and Mingli Residential College, among other places.
