Dr. Shawn Chen, President of the International Association of University Presidents, Chairman and Founder of Sias University, Attended the 18th Round Table Conference of the Union of International Associations

Florence, Italy, November 13-15 (local time) – The highly anticipated 18th round table conference of the Union of International Associations (UIA) was successfully held, gathering over 200 representatives from international organizations worldwide. The conference aimed to explore the future trends and collaboration opportunities within the international organizational landscape. Dr. Shawn Chen, President of the International Association of University Presidents (IAUP), Founder and Chairman of Sias University, was invited to attend the meeting and participate in related activities. Representatives of Sias Office of International Affairs also attended the conference.

During the conference, Dr. Chen met with Mr. Cyril Ritchie, President of the UIA. The two sides had a wide-ranging discussion on how to make better use of the resources of international organizations and foster global exchanges and cooperation. Dr. Chen said that he was looking forward to introducing the rich resources and valuable experience of the UIA to China and contributing to the internationalization of education within the country. Both parties exchanged perspectives on the potential hosting of future UIA conferences in China.

At the same time, Dr. Chen actively introduced to the delegates the current development and broad prospects of higher education in China, as well as the unique advantages and remarkable achievements of Sias University in internationalization. He said that Sias University has always been committed to creating an internationalized education environment and cultivating high-quality talents with global vision and international competitiveness. In the future, Sias will further strengthen communication and cooperation with international organizations and jointly promote the prosperity of global education.

Sias’ participation in the 18th round table conference of UIA not only enhances its visibility and influence on the international stage, it also paves a new path for in-depth exchanges and cooperation with the global community. Dr. Chen emphasized that Sias will continue to uphold its internationalization development strategy, fortify its ties and collaborations with international associations, and contribute to the flourishing and advancement of global education.

The Union of International Associations (UIA), headquartered in Brussels, Belgium, was founded in 1907 by Henri La Fontaine, winner of the Nobel Peace Prize in 1913, and Paul Otlet, the Founder of Modern Information Science. UIA is a non-profit, independent research organization which has consultative relations with the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC), the International Labor Organization (ILO), European Commission, and the European Council. A special ECOSOC resolution in 1950 established cooperation between the UN and the UIA in the compilation of the Yearbook of International Organizations.
