On December 9, 2024 Vocational Education Digital Human Going Global and Vocational Education Curriculum Construction Seminar was successfully held in the lecture hall on the 10th floor of Sias Library. Organized by the esteemed Open and Distance Education Committee of China Association for Educational Technology, with collaboration from OUC Ubiquitous (Beijing) Education Technology Co., Ltd., the event brought together a diverse array of experts and representatives from 11 colleges and universities, alongside 6 enterprises. Centered around the theme of "Vocational Education Digital Human Going Global and Vocational Education Curriculum Construction," participants engaged in enriching discussions, sharing insights on exchanged in-depth experience of vocational education digital human and enterprise "going global" and the development of digital human curriculum construction. Zhang Shaogang, Supervisor of China Association for Educational Technology, and Liu Yongqian, Executive Deputy Director of Academic Committee, attended the meeting. Dr. Shawn Chen, Founder and Chairman of Sias University, attended the seminar and delivered a speech. Yuan Guanglin, Vice President, Chairman of the Board of Supervisors of Sias University, Professor Lucy Lu, Provost and Vice President of Sias University, and the person in charge of Sias Department of Information Construction and Management participated in the seminar.
On behalf of Sias University, Dr. Shawn Chen extended his heartfelt welcome to all the esteemed guests. He emphasized that the rapid evolution of generative artificial intelligence technology, exemplified by ChatGPT, has significantly impacted traditional educational methodologies, leading to profound transformations in the modality and form of education. Since its inception, Sias University has been steadfast in its commitment to enhancing governance capabilities and elevating the standard of education and teaching through digital construction. Sias has remained at the forefront of scientific and technological advancements, adopting science and technology empowerment as a core strategic focus. By benchmarking renowned universities globally, Sias has embarked on the construction of digital and smart campus, actively leveraging digital human technology to propel the adoption of intelligent teaching and learning practices. This initiative aims to spearhead comprehensive innovations in educational modes, management methodologies, and service capacities.
Professor Lucy Lu further elaborated that Sias University has embarked on the construction phase of a digital and smart campus, actively delving into the utilization of digital human technology. This technology is not only being employed to disseminate explicit knowledge but also to delve deeper into the realm of invisible or tacit knowledge. The objective is to foster critical thinking and innovative abilities among students. She issued a heartfelt appeal to all participants to undertake a collective exploration of the boundless potential that technology-enabled education holds. By doing so, they can propel the advancement of personalized and precise teaching methodologies for students, ensuring that educational experiences cater to individual learning needs and preferences.
During the seminar, representatives from participating universities and enterprises presented their invaluable experiences regarding digital human and enterprises "going global," digital curriculum development, as well as research and application construction in the field of digital human. Engaging discussions were held on diverse topics, including educational digital human competition and the utilization of digital human in organizing debates for university students. These discussions served as a fertile ground for idea exchange and inspiration, enriching the participants' perspectives and fostering new insights.
During the meeting, the experts of the evaluation team attentively listened to the report presented by Li Xia, Consultant of Sias Department of Informatization Construction and Management, regarding the application of the education base of the China Association for Educational Technology. Following the report, the experts visited the exhibition hall of Sias's smart campus, where they observed the holographic smart classroom, naked-eye 3D interactive space, and various other facilities. They gained a thorough understanding of the various informatization applications, including the interactive digital human, smart campus brain, unified network, AI assistant, and integrated platform. The experts expressed their profound satisfaction with the achievements made by Sias University in the field of informatization construction. In particular, they highly praised the innovative application of artificial intelligence in supporting management, teaching, and learning processes, deeming it as an exceptionally valuable experience in the development and application construction endeavors.
In his concluding speech, Yuan Guanglin, Vice President and Chairman of the Board of Supervisors of Sias University, emphasized Sias's strong commitment to promoting the integration of artificial intelligence with education and teaching. He proudly noted that Sias has successfully developed a number of digital human courses and achieved noteworthy results in this field. Yuan Guanglin further stated that Sias University will fully support the construction of the research base and leverage the platform provided by the base to actively explore and summarize advanced experiences in digital construction. With this, Sias aims to become a pioneer and leader in the realm of educational intelligent transformation, contributing significantly to the digital transformation of educational institutions.
