2024 Sias Annual Research Work Conference

On December 11, 2024 Sias Annual Research Work Conference triumphantly concluded in the Instruction Opera House Theater. The conference aimed to thoroughly review and summarize Sias's academic research achievements and experiences over the past two years, while also meticulously examining the encountered issues and shortcomings. Additionally, it recognized and honored a select number of advanced groups and individuals for their outstanding contributions. Looking toward the future, the conference meticulously planned and deployed strategies for upcoming scientific research and master program application endeavors.

Han Bing, Second Class Inspector of the Education Department of Henan Province and Director of the Department of Social Science Research and Language Applications, Song Haiping, former Second Class Inspector of the Henan Development and Reform Commission, Dong Quanqiang, Director of the Electronic Information Science and Technology Department of Henan Science and Technology Department, Fan Zhijun, Second Class Researcher and Deputy Director of the Policies and Laws Department of Culture and Tourism Department of Henan Province, and Nan Dawei, Professor of the Department of Social Science Research and Language Applications of the Education Department of Henan Province, attended the conference. Dr. Shawn Chen, Founder and Chairman of Sias University, Ma Jiansheng, Secretary of the CPC Sias Committee, President Liu Xiangyu, Wu Hua, Deputy Secretary of the CPC Sias Committee, Executive Vice President, and Chairman of the Labor Union of Sias University, Zhao Yuxin, Vice President, Secretary of the CPC Sias Commission for Discipline Inspection, Yuan Guanglin, Vice President, Chairman of the Board of Supervisors, Director of the Scientific Research Division of Sias University, and Prof. Lucy Lu, Provost and Vice President of Sias University, were present at the conference. Middle-level leaders of various units, representatives of awarded departments and commended personnel, and representatives of teachers from professional schools of Sias University attended the meeting. The conference was hosted by Ma Jiansheng.

As the solemn national anthem of the People's Republic of China echoed through the hall, the conference officially commenced. Dr. Shawn Chen extended his heartfelt welcome to all attendees and paid tribute to the dedicated faculty and staff of Sias who have tirelessly contributed to the front lines of teaching and research for the past 26 years. He emphasized that, over this span, Sias has transformed into a private university with distinctive characteristics and remarkable advantages. Currently, Sias stands at a pivotal moment, undergoing evaluations and preparing applications for master's programs, while also being in the closing stages of the "14th Five-Year Plan" aimed at building a high-level private university with unique features. The importance of research in shaping Sias's future connotations cannot be overstated. Therefore, in the next phase, Sias plans to intensify efforts to attract and nurture scientific research talents, augment investments in research, refine research directions, establish research platforms, and leverage the experience and resources gained from its collaboration with Zhengzhou University in implementing the joint postgraduate training program. These initiatives will propel Sias's application for master's degree programs and propel the high-quality development of its scientific research endeavors.

Han Bing highly praised Sias's remarkable achievements in promoting connotative and high-quality development, especially in high-level research projects, social services, scientific research platforms, and discipline construction. Han Bing exhorted Sias faculty to actively participate in project declarations and construction initiatives of the Education Department of Henan Province, while continuously honing their research abilities and expertise. Additionally, Han Bing articulated three key expectations for Sias's future research endeavors: to maintain the correct direction and progressively enhance research and innovation capabilities; to strengthen organized research and ignite research enthusiasm and innovative vitality of all faculty members and students; and to reinforce the construction of research platforms and disciplines, thereby making a significant contribution to the advancement of building Henan into a strong education province.

Yuan Guanglin, Vice President, Chairman of the Board of Supervisors of Sias University, thoroughly reviewed the research accomplishments and experiences of Sias University over the past two years. He emphasized that, under the guidance of Sias Council and CPC Committee, the majority of faculty and staff have diligently innovated within their respective roles, resulting in a promising trend in discipline and research development. During this period, the number of research projects approved by Sias has ranked among the top in private colleges and universities, the publication of high-level papers has increased steadily, and numerous research achievements have been recognized. Additionally, Sias has been granted several provincial research platforms, which have laid a solid foundation for further research advancements and the pursuit of master program application. Regarding the future direction and primary tasks of Siass research endeavors, Yuan Guanglin underscored the importance of focusing on teaching ethics, and strengthening the construction of the research and innovation system, mechanisms, and capabilities. He encouraged all faculty and staff to raise Siass operational and educational standards to new heights. In particular, Yuan Guanglin emphasized the significance of the master program application and called upon all teachers and students to work together to comprehensively carry out the construction work necessary for establishing a high-level, applied private university with distinctive internationalization characteristics.

The conference also featured award ceremonies for three provincial key disciplines: Applied Economics, Computer Science and Technology, and Tourism Management. Additionally, it recognized the achievements of various research centers and bases, including the "Henan Intelligent Manufacturing Digital Twin Engineering Research Center," the "Henan Culture and Tourism Research Base," and the "Henan Agricultural Information Digital Twin Engineering Research Center." At the same time, the conference honored 9 advanced workers in research management, including Chai Manjie, 2 new research talents, including Zhang Chi, 15 advanced research individuals, including Chen Jing, 5 research pacesetters, including Gao Sheng, 5 excellent research teams including the School of Art and Design, and 6 advanced research groups including the School of Business.

Guo Xinsheng, Dean of the School of Art and Design, and Shen Jianjing, Dean of the School of Computer and Software Engineering, spoke as representatives of advanced research groups. They shared the achievements of their respective schools in the construction of research platforms and the integration of industry, academia, research, and application, and reported on the research plans and work arrangements for the next phase. Tian Yongjie, teacher of the School of Business and representative of research pacesetters, expressed his gratitude to Sias for providing academic platforms and research resources. He also shared his experience of continuous learning, staying updated with the latest research frontiers, actively consulting and learning with an open mind, and collaborating with his team for innovative research.

Liu Xiangyu emphasized the significance and urgency of research, highlighting that the current global higher education and research landscape is experiencing significant shifts. He noted that China has set higher expectations for scientific and technological innovation in universities. Therefore, Sias must accurately capture the development trends in higher education and effectively strengthen its sense of mission, responsibility, and urgency in conducting research. Liu Xiangyu outlined three key points: first, to elevate the status of research and foster a stronger sense of responsibility towards it; second, to make targeted and concerted efforts to strive for new breakthroughs in research; and third, to focus intently and expedite the implementation of the "master program application" initiative. He encouraged all teachers and students to embrace the mindset that "everyone picks up the heavy burden" and to collaboratively contribute to Sias's efforts to apply for master programs.

2024 Sias Annual Research Work Conference concluded successfully, receiving warm applause from the attendees. The convening of this conference has clarified the goals and direction of Sias's scientific research work, igniting everyone's enthusiasm for research, and fostering a spirit of innovation. The delegates expressed their commitment to leverage this conference as a pivotal platform to further strengthen the construction of the research team, enhance their research and innovation capabilities, and contribute more wisdom and strength towards the high-quality development of Sias University.
