Dr. Shawn Chen, President of IAUP, Chairman and Founder of Sias University, Attended the 2024 UNESCO International Conference of NGOs, and Visited French Universities for Future Collaborations

From December 16 to 20 in Paris, the President of the International Association of University Presidents (IAUP) and the Founder and Chairman of Sias University, Dr. Shawn Chen, attended the International Conference of NGOs of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO)accompanied by a representative from Sias Office of Foreign Affairs. The Conference is held every two years as an important gathering for UNESCO's esteemed network of official partner NGOs. With the theme of "Building Capacity for Action," the conference sought to bolster collaboration between NGOs and UNESCO, fostering joint advancement in the realms of global education, culture, and science. Among the esteemed attendees were Mr. Qu XingDeputy Director-General of UNESCO, and Ms. Simona-Mirela Miculescu, President of the Conference, who delivered an inspiring speech at the opening ceremony.

During the three-day conference, Dr. Chen actively participated in various activities, including the opening ceremony, keynote speeches, group discussions, and parallel sessions. He engaged in thought-provoking exchanges with Ms. Simona-Mirela Miculescu, the President of the Conference, as well as the heads of other international organizations, exploring new avenues for international cooperation. Of particular note, Dr. Chen paid close attention to the interactive presentation on "UNESCO 2026-2029 Program and Budget," which delved into strategic planning for global education. Additionally, he was actively involved in discussions on a range of topics, including youth work, culture, and economy, which covered in-depth exploration of enhancing the quality of education and promoting equity in education.

During the conference, Dr. Chen embarked on a visit to KEDGE Business School, a leading French institution of higher learning, where he had insightful discussions with its esteemed leadership. This visit culminated in the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), aimed at reinforcing the cooperative bond between Sias and KEDGE, and fostering a collaborative synergy in the realms of educational innovation, academic research, and student exchange.

Additionally, Dr. Chen ventured to the Federation for Education in Europe (FEDE), engaging in comprehensive dialogues with the head of FEDE's program. The discussions centered around Sias's potential involvement in FEDE and future collaborations, encompassing research initiatives, curriculum design, and student and faculty exchanges. The execution of these cooperative endeavors is poised to significantly propel the advancement of Sias’s educational quality and international presence. Furthermore, these initiatives will usher in fresh development prospects for FEDE to foster a richer and more diverse academic landscape.

The participation in the UNESCO conference and the subsequent visit to French universities have not only provided Sias with an international stage to showcase its educational accomplishments and unique characteristics, but have also laid a robust foundation for Sias's future international collaborations and sustained growth.
