Delegation of American University of Phnom Penh Visited Sias University

On February 20, Dr. Malcolm McIver, President of American University of Phnom Penh (AUPP), and Assistant Professor Yamuna Sihambalam, Vice President of AUPP, visited Sias University. The guests were warmly welcomed by Professor Lucy Lu, Provost and Vice President of Sias University, who engaged in enlightening exchanges and discussions with them. Representatives from Sias Office of Foreign Affairs, the School of International Education, and Kansas International School (KIS), accompanied the participants.

During their visit, Dr. Malcolm McIver and his delegation toured the European Street, Student Activity Center, London Street, No. 16 Classroom Building, French Garden, Qixian Residential College, School of International Education, School of Physical Education, and other pivotal educational and teaching venues, as well as student living communities at Sias University. They gained a detailed understanding of Sias's historical background and its distinctive internationalization features. Expressing their admiration, they highly appreciated Sias's picturesque campus environment, comprehensive hardware and software facilities, and its vibrant international atmosphere.

Following the tour, a conference was held on the seventh floor of the Administration Building. Professor Lucy Lu, representing Sias University, warmly welcomed Dr. Malcolm McIver and his delegation. Yue Junliang, Sias Office of Foreign Affairs, then provided a detailed overview of Sias's Sino-foreign cooperation initiatives and its internationalization efforts. In response, Dr. Malcolm McIver commended Sias's accomplishments and international standing, expressing his hope that this visit would serve as a catalyst for deeper communication and collaboration between the two institutions. He looked forward to exploring diverse modes of cooperation that could further strengthen their ties.

In the afternoon, Dr. Malcolm McIver was invited to visit Kansas International School. Centering on the core topic of "Analysis of the Differences and Advantages between International Education and Transnational Education," he engaged in a thought-provoking discussion about the distinctions and interconnections between these two educational paradigms, specifically focusing on educational methodologies and talent cultivation. During his visit, he participated in deep and interactive exchanges with both Chinese and foreign teachers and students, which not only fostered academic dialogue but also enhanced humanistic understanding between the two sides.

This visit not only laid a solid foundation for potential future cooperation between Sias and AUPP, but also marked a significant milestone in the collaboration endeavors between Sias and Cambodian institutions. It is believed that with the concerted efforts of both parties, this cooperation will yield fruitful results and make positive contributions to the promotion of humanistic exchanges and the advancement of education between our two sides.
