To further strengthen the construction of teachers' ethics and professionalism, and promote the spirit of educationists, a special lecture titled “Cultivating Excellence through the Spirit of Educationists” was held on the morning of May 23 at Sias Library Auditorium. Co-organized by the Administration Office of Residential Colleges and Sias Residential College System Research Task Force, and jointly hosted by Huanyu Residential College and the School of Education, the event featured Professor Wu Wei, Secretary of the Party Committee and Dean of Mengxiancheng College of East China Normal University, as the keynote speaker. Prof. Lucy Lu, Provost and Vice President of Sias University, and Director of the Residential College System Research Task Force, and leaders from all residential colleges, along with faculty mentors, life mentors, and relevant professional teachers, attended the lecture. The event was moderated by Liu Dongwei, Deputy Director of Sias Residential College System Research Task Force and Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of Huanyu Residential College.

Professor Wu Wei has long been dedicated to the field of education, with outstanding achievements in teacher education and residential college system development. She previously served as the Director of the Student Development Service Center at East China Normal University and has been honored with numerous awards, including the First Prize of the National and Shanghai Higher Education Teaching Achievement Awards, and the Shanghai Yucai Award. Under her leadership, Mengxiancheng College, the first residential college for teacher education in China, has earned the reputation of a "cradle for future educationists," accumulating rich experience in cultivating excellent future teachers.
During the lecture, Professor Wu took Mengxiancheng College's practices as a case study. Through a promotional video and detailed explanations, she elaborated on the college's operational framework, recent initiatives, educational outcomes, and future directions, providing a comprehensive interpretation of the model for nurturing outstanding future teachers under the guidance of the educationist spirit. Mengxiancheng College adopts a dual identity as both a "residential college" and an "academic college," fostering students' holistic and personalized growth through immersive second-classroom education under the residential college system, thereby continuously enhancing their comprehensive qualities.
In her concluding remarks, Professor Lucy Lu emphasized that Professor Wu's profound expertise in future teacher education, closely aligned with the mission of teachers to "impart knowledge, resolve doubts, and inspire minds," delivered a lecture that was both insightful and concise. It fully embodied the craftsmanship spirit essential for educationists, offering valuable theoretical and practical insights for our university's residential college development.

Following the lecture, Professor Lu presented Professor Wu with a certificate of appointment as a visiting professor and an off-campus mentor of Sias University.
