On the afternoon of March 3, Sias University convened its Student Affairs Work Conference for the Spring Semester of 2026 at the lecture hall on the first floor of Building T19. University leaders attended the meeting and delivered remarks. Participants included representatives from the Student Affairs Office, the Admissions and Employment Office, residential colleges, as well as faculty mentors and residential life advisors.

At the meeting, Liu Dongwei, Deputy Director of the Student Affairs Office, reviewed the achievements of the student affairs system in 2025 and outlined key priorities for 2026 across six major areas. These include: strengthening the safety framework by enhancing five-level grid management, implementing the “Six Must-Talks” mentoring mechanism, and establishing dynamic, individualized student records; deepening ideological and political education through brand enhancement initiatives, stronger online platforms, and expanded educational channels; reinforcing academic integrity and study culture by introducing academic early-warning and support systems, highlighting role models, and fostering a culture of diligence and honesty; advancing the development of residential colleges by transforming student dormitories into holistic educational spaces, promoting “One College, One Brand” initiatives, and refining general education core courses; empowering student affairs teams through professional development programs, improved evaluation systems, and enhanced digital competencies; and optimizing student services by advancing targeted financial aid toward developmental support, upgrading the full-cycle mental health platform (Version 2.0), implementing star-rated dormitory assessments, and strengthening guidance for civil service and public institution examinations to support diverse pathways and high-quality employment.

Zhu Hongqiang, Director of the Admissions and Employment Office, provided an in-depth analysis of the current employment landscape and outlined plans for enrollment and career services in the new semester. He emphasized the importance of improving student recruitment quality, strengthening outreach and service, enhancing career education throughout the student lifecycle, guiding students to develop sound career perspectives, and delivering targeted support for key student groups to ensure more sufficient and higher-quality employment outcomes for the Class of 2026.

In the concluding remarks, university leadership highly commended the dedication and accomplishments of the student affairs team over the past year, praising their ability to “step up, take responsibility, and deliver results when it matters most.” It was noted that 2026 marks both the launch of the university’s 15th Five-Year Plan and a critical phase in advancing the connotative development of the residential college system reform, making student affairs work especially significant.

Focusing on key tasks for the new semester, three main requirements were proposed: first, to enhance political awareness and serve as leaders in fostering students’ moral and intellectual development by strengthening ideological guidance, building distinctive residential college brands, safeguarding campus safety, and deepening academic culture; second, to prioritize effective implementation by establishing long-term mechanisms, ensuring institutional plans are fully executed, seizing key recruitment periods, engaging directly with employers, and guiding students toward rational career choices; and third, to strengthen coordination and collaboration by promoting cross-departmental synergy, integrating diverse educational resources, and building a comprehensive, all-staff, whole-process, and all-dimensional education system.

The conference set a clear direction and built strong consensus for student affairs work in the new semester. All participants expressed their commitment to approaching their roles with greater enthusiasm and a more pragmatic attitude, dedicating themselves to the fundamental mission of fostering virtue through education and contributing to the high-quality development of SIAS.
