To comprehensively enhance faculty members’ teaching innovation capabilities and help participating instructors accurately understand the latest competition requirements while mastering effective preparation strategies, Sias University held a special training session on the Teaching Innovation Competition on the afternoon of March 5 at the lecture hall on the first floor of Building T19.

More than 320 participants attended the session, including leaders from various schools and departments, as well as faculty members participating in the university-level selection for the 6th National College Teachers’ Teaching Innovation Competition. The training was hosted by Vice President Zhao Yuxin and featured Professor Dai Xiaoli from Henan University of Technology—an award winner of the 5th National Teaching Innovation Competition—as the keynote speaker.

Under the theme “Comprehensive Preparation and Advanced Practice for Teaching Innovation Competitions,” Professor Dai began by connecting the competition to the broader context of building a strong education system and advancing higher education reform. She provided an in-depth interpretation of the competition’s core objectives, highlighting its alignment with contemporary development and its role in supporting the “Four New” initiatives.

Focusing on the key components of competition preparation, Professor Dai offered a detailed breakdown of essential elements such as course overview, real-world problem identification, innovative approaches, and implementation strategies. She emphasized that submissions should be well-structured, evidence-based, and supported by clear visuals and data. Drawing on her own successful experience at the national level, she also shared practical insights into the three core evaluation criteria of the competition, using her own project design as a case study.

The training session was rich in content and highly practical, combining professional analysis of evaluation standards with hands-on preparation strategies. During the Q&A session, participating faculty actively raised questions based on their own preparation challenges. Professor Dai responded thoroughly, offering targeted guidance on optimizing instructional design, refining innovation highlights, and improving teaching effectiveness.

This training session provided a valuable platform for exchanging and sharing best practices in teaching innovation. It plays a significant role in strengthening faculty capabilities and laying a solid foundation for innovative teaching practices at SIAS.

Looking ahead, SIAS will continue to focus on faculty professional development needs by organizing more high-quality and targeted training programs. By promoting teaching through competition and driving reform through participation, the university aims to further enhance teaching quality and achieve new milestones in future competitions.
