Henan Research and Guidance Center for Residential College Education Reform Conducts Exchange Visit to Henan University of Economics and Law

To further advance the reform and innovation of the residential college education model in universities across Henan Province, foster inter-university collaboration, and promote experience sharing and resource integration, on March 13, a seven-member delegation from the Henan Research and Guidance Center for Residential College Education Reform visited Henan University of Economics and Law for a thematic research and exchange activity.

Established on June 11, 2021 and hosted by Sias University, the Center operates under the guidance of the Henan Higher Education Association. It is primarily responsible for advancing research on residential college reform, strengthening exchanges among universities across the province, and providing professional guidance for residential college development. The Center is committed to promoting innovation in the residential college education model, supporting practical development across institutions, and exploring new pathways tailored to the regional context of Henan’s higher education system.

Zhao Nan, Deputy Party Secretary of Henan University of Economics and Law, welcomed the delegation and provided a comprehensive overview of the university’s progress in advancing residential college reform, building its student development system, and developing distinctive institutional strengths. Feng Jiandong, Director of the Student Affairs Department, shared insights into the university’s experience in residential college development, including its evolution, operational mechanisms, and特色育人 practices.

The delegation representative introduced the Center’s background, core responsibilities, and Sias University’s overall approach, innovative reform measures, and practical achievements in residential college development. Both sides engaged in in-depth discussions on key topics such as the collaborative “dual-college” model, community-based education approaches, and the residential mentor system, jointly exploring implementation pathways and strategies for enhancing residential college education in the new era.

Following the meeting, the delegation conducted site visits to Zhiyuan College, Hongyi College, and Boqia College, gaining detailed insights into their functional layout, infrastructure, operational management, and student development practices.

This exchange further strengthened inter-university connections, deepened shared understanding of reform efforts, and expanded perspectives for future collaboration. Looking ahead, the Center will continue to play a coordinating and leading role, promoting mutual learning and resource sharing among universities across the province, enhancing the quality and effectiveness of residential college education, and contributing to the high-quality development of higher education in Henan.
