To deepen classroom teaching reform and comprehensively enhance faculty innovation in teaching, Sias University held the campus final of the 7th Henan Provincial Teaching Innovation Competition for Undergraduate Universities on March 25 at the T19 Teaching Building. Vice President Zhao Yuxin attended and chaired the event, with distinguished teaching award winners and previous provincial competition recipients serving as judges.

In his remarks, Zhao Yuxin emphasized that the core of the Teaching Innovation Competition lies in returning to the essence of classroom instruction and advancing meaningful pedagogical innovation. He noted that the competition plays a vital role in guiding faculty to focus on teaching excellence and actively engage in classroom reform. He called on judges to adhere to provincial evaluation standards, provide constructive guidance, and select outstanding candidates for higher-level competitions. He also highlighted the significant increase in participation this year, reflecting strong faculty commitment to improving teaching quality.

At the final, nearly 120 faculty members selected through preliminary rounds at the school and departmental levels presented their work. Participants introduced course overviews, identified real teaching challenges, and systematically demonstrated their innovative approaches and educational outcomes. The presentations were dynamic and engaging.

Following each presentation, judges engaged in in-depth discussions with participants, offering targeted and practical feedback on addressing teaching challenges, refining innovative elements, and optimizing instructional design. Their guidance provided valuable support for improving course quality and teaching effectiveness.

The competition received strong support across the university, with careful planning and broad participation. A series of supporting activities—including pre-competition training, on-site mentoring, and post-event reviews—helped foster a vibrant culture of “promoting innovation through competition and enhancing teaching through practice.”

Moving forward, Sias University will use this competition as an opportunity to further improve long-term mechanisms for faculty development, encourage continuous teaching reform and innovation, and strengthen the foundation for high-quality talent cultivation and sustainable institutional development.
