On June 21, the 2025–2026 National College Basketball Division II League successfully concluded at our university’s comprehensive gymnasium.
The competition officially started on June 16. University basketball teams from across Northwest China gathered at our university and went through six days of group matches, crossover knockout rounds, semi-finals, and finals. All awards across categories were decided. Xidian University won the men’s championship, while Zhengzhou Sias University won the women’s championship.
As the chair institution of the Basketball Branch of the Henan Student Sports Association, our university successfully hosted the event by relying on its well-developed venue facilities, mature event organization system, and strong campus basketball culture. The organization and logistical services were highly recognized by the organizing committee and all participating universities.

The opening ceremony was held on the evening of June 16 at the comprehensive gymnasium. Attending guests included Li Zhen, Head of the Basketball Division of the Chinese University Sports Association; Yao Yuan, Deputy Secretary-General of the University Basketball Branch; Yang Guang, Vice Director of the Henan Provincial Department of Education; Li Ruilin, Director of the Department of Physical Education, Health and Arts; Wang Honghang, Director of the Ball Sports Center of the Henan Provincial Sports Bureau; Yu Hailuo, President of the Henan Student Sports Association; Vice Presidents and Secretary-General Guo Weiwei and Lin Kemin; He Zuxin, Secretary-General of the Basketball Association; as well as Niu Xiaoyu, Party Secretary of our university, Vice Presidents Zhao Yuxin and Yuan Guanglin. The ceremony was presided over by Vice President Zhao Yuxin.

In his welcome speech, Party Secretary Niu Xiaoyu introduced that the university has long been committed to developing campus basketball as a distinctive feature and has strong capacity to host provincial and national student sports events. He noted that hosting this Northwest regional event is an important practice in implementing the Healthy China strategy and promoting education through sports. The university coordinated all aspects of the event, including competition, logistics, security, and medical support, to ensure a fair, professional, and well-organized environment.

Yang Guang officially announced the start of the competition. Afterwards, athlete representatives and referee representatives took oaths, pledging to strictly follow competition rules and uphold fairness and justice. Cultural and sports performances were also staged, showcasing the vitality of students at the university.

Yu Hailuo conducted the opening tip-off, officially starting the first match of the tournament.

During the competition, the schedule was intensive and matches were highly competitive. Teams gave their full effort and showed strong teamwork, with fast breaks, three-point shots, and inside plays creating continuous highlights. All referees officiated professionally and in accordance with regulations. Volunteers, logistics staff, security personnel, and medical teams worked in coordination to ensure the smooth running of the event.
After multiple rounds of competition, the women’s top three teams were Zhengzhou Sias University, Northwest A&F University, and Qinghai University. Our university’s women’s team, supported by a balanced offense and defense system and strong teamwork, defeated strong opponents throughout the tournament. Player Zhang Sinian delivered outstanding all-round performance and was named Women’s Most Valuable Player (MVP).
The men’s top three teams were Xidian University, Henan University of Technology, and Inner Mongolia University. The men’s final was closely contested and highly competitive. Xidian University withstood repeated challenges to win the championship. Player Bayan Qiaoken delivered key performances on both offense and defense and was awarded the Men’s Most Valuable Player (MVP).



At the award ceremony, university leaders and guests presented trophies and medals to the top three teams in each category and awarded MVP trophies to the male and female MVPs.
The event not only completed the selection of qualifying teams for the Northwest region, but also provided an important platform for sports and cultural exchange among regional universities, effectively strengthening inter-university communication and cooperation.
Looking ahead, our university will continue to leverage its strengths in hosting large-scale sports events, further develop its campus basketball program, and actively host university-level sports competitions. It will remain committed to the fundamental task of fostering moral integrity and talent cultivation, use sports to strengthen students’ physical fitness and character, and contribute to the high-quality development of university sports education.
